Smokey and I
First blog post ever, so there’s either a lot of pressure or none at all…I’ll go somewhere in the middle and say there’s some. I think that’s fair?
Really there have been a lot of firsts/changes in the last six months; I’ve changed jobs after 14 years, cut my hair, moved houses, inherited 24 chickens, three geese, two puppies and a partridge in a pear tree (ok, not the last animal, but still a lot of change). Here’s what I know about life, the minute you think you have a plan, you should just throw it out the window. Because surprise, surprise, that’s not how it’s going to go down. Those curve balls are tricky things and if you don’t handle them right, you might find yourself face first in the mud. It’s this constant shoulder tapping by life, that reminds me I might not have all day. Because of this, I’m one of those individuals that just “goes for it”. Whether that be traveling, listening to my heart and gut, or just never settling into the “norm”. For some reason I never got the general life rule book, so I’ve just been writing my own since the training wheels came off.
With no defined rules or hesitation at the fork in the road, it’s allowed me to find strength in dark places and to live life passionately. I have this passion for design; I love it and always have. I consider it a privilege to practice the art of Interior Design. My inspiration comes from many things but nature is where I’m most rooted. I recently had a saying tattooed on my arm that reads, “ And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul”. This is a quote I kept in my backpack when I used to lead wilderness trips and it couldn’t ring more true to me. Some of my best life lessons and memories were created in the mountains of the Rockies. You never know where lessons will be taught, I just believe you need to be open to receive them and then embrace tightly.
This next chapter in my life is an exciting one. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to grow in this new direction and help client’s in their new interior adventure. People themselves truly make the biggest impact and I’m excited to meet you. So raise your glass, and let’s cheer to the next page turn!
