Carmel Coastline
Get inspired! Look around you and take in what you see, smell, and taste. Soon there will be the hint of fresh cut grass, the sound of crickets, and if you’re lucky, the twinkle of lightning bugs. Can you tell I’m ready for it to truly feel like spring and anxiously awaiting summer? I wouldn’t dare rush time away but I think I’m starting to actually ache for warmth. In a last ditch effort for some sunshine I thought it might help to peruse some photos I took when I was in California over the New Year. Many of the photos brought smiles and great memories, but the one above not only made me feel lucky it inspired me.
A couple years ago I acquired two outdoor chairs that were painted a mustard yellow and a soft green. I really enjoyed these chairs because they reminded me of a style my grandparents loved. I kept them at the end of our pier the last two lake seasons and they got a lot of use but also a lot of wear and tear. This season I wondered what their fate might hold until I came across the picture above. I remember when we were driving by this particular bit of coastline, we had no choice but to stop and take in the sight of the bold red ground cover contrasting with the bright blue sea; simply stunning. In review of this photo, I yet again was seeing red but it was in paint form. I LOVE red; it’s fiery, bold and alive. I knew immediately this was the CPR our chairs needed and wanted.
We bought supplies that day and within 24 hours we had two hot lookin’ and re-charmed chairs. Below is the result of our scraping and painting. These will yet again be our pier perch for this season’s sunsets and toasts. For me, inspiration is one of life’s best surprise gifts. So, get inspired, be open to creative thoughts, and don’t miss the details.
